This course has been designed and built for Auditors who come into contact (at any level) with IBM mainframe systems in their daily work. The course encompasses an overview of the z/OS mainframe computing environment, before focusing on the security implications of the environment, as relevant to auditors. Each stage of the course builds upon the previous one, enabling attendees to consolidate what has been learned and see how it will apply to their daily work.

This ten-day Boot Camp course is the essential foundation for the IBM Z Systems enterprise computing environment and its flagship operating system, z/OS. The course introduces the concepts and terminology encountered and used by IS personnel every day and explains them in an easily understandable manner.
The concepts, facilities, and use of TSO and IBM's Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) are taught during this week, with a focus on the functions for data editing and dataset management. The week concludes with z/OS Job Control Language (JCL). Attendees will be introduced to the coding of job control statements to execute programs and access datasets in a z/OS environment. They will also learn how to write and test catalogued procedures and be introduced to some advanced functions and utilities.

This five-day course is Part 2 of RSM's newly designed and built z/OS Foundation Skills Programmer. Following on from Part 1 of the programmer, which introduced the Z Systems environment and taught the use of TSO/ISPF, this stage of the programmer first introduces and teaches the use of z/OS Job Control Language. An understanding of JCL and the ability to use it is essential knowledge for all those working in technical roles within a z/OS environment. Students will learn the coding of job control statements to execute programs and access datasets, as well as how to write and test catalogued procedures.
The course then goes on to provide a view of z/OS and its job entry subsystem JES2, from an operational (production environment) perspective. The system's functions are demonstrated by following a sequence that begins with the start-up of the system (IML and IPL) and then follows how the system controls the application workload coming through and exiting the system. Importantly, the operator's ability to control this process is examined and explained in detail.

This five-day course is Part 3 of RSM's newly designed and built z/OS Foundation Skills programmer. The previous two parts have introduced students to the Z Systems computing environment at a conceptual and terminological level, the use of TSO/ISPF, the use of z/OS JCL, and z/OS and JES2 from an operational perspective.
This part of the programmer now examines the System Z mainframe environment at a technical level, introducing the architecture and explaining the z/OS operating system. This is followed by an overview of z/OS security with RACF. The course concludes with an introduction to networks in a Z Systems environment.
