VSAM Performance Tuning [MVPT]

OVERVIEW

VSAM continues to be a very important part of a data repository for many clients today. Therefore, VSAM performance is critical, especially in an online environment such as CICS. This course is designed to give the attendee the tools necessary to be able to identify areas and tune VSAM data sets. The attendees will be taught what VSAM definition parameters are essential and how they should be defined. A discussion on  obsolete parameters and definitions that when used actually affect the performance of the data set. In addition to defining ways that you can improve batch VSAM processing, attendees will examine how to tune VSAM in an  online environment such as CICS. Among the tools that are used to tune VSAM data sets is the LISTCAT. The course covers how to effectively use a LISTCAT for tuning and discusses certain DFSMS parameters that can help VSAM file performance.
