z/OS & JES2 Operations [1041]

OVERVIEW

Essential knowledge for all operations personnel, this two-day course provides a view of z/OS (with JES2 as the job entry subsystem) through the eyes of the operator and the operator console.
It goes through the system's functions by following a sequence which begins with the start-up of the system (IML and IPL) and then follows how the system controls the application workload coming through and exiting the system. Importantly, the operator's ability to control this process is examined and explained in detail.

REXX under TSO/ISPF [RT]

OVERVIEW

REXX is a powerful multi-purpose and user-friendly programming tool used to exploit many IBM and third-party operational products. It is the tool of choice in most (if not all) of today’s larger data centers for those who need to implement new operational procedures both quickly and effectively. This three-day course is designed for TSO/ISPF users who wish to learn how to create and use programs in the REXX language.

TSO/ISPF Users’ Workshop [MTSO]

OVERVIEW

Essential knowledge for anyone working in a z/OS computing environment. This hands-on course introduces the concepts and facilities of TSO and IBM's Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF). The course focuses particularly on TSO/ISPF's functions for data editing and dataset management.

Almost all users of IBM's z/OS systems use TSO/ISPF to carry out their daily duties. Even today, a surprising number of TSO users have not had any formal training in using it, having 'picked it up' from other users, who probably learned how to use the product themselves many years ago. As a result it is highly likely that most users deploy features and use techniques that are not only just out of date but in many cases extremely inefficient.

All TSO users (new and established) will gain significantly from attending this course. It combines formal classroom teaching with a progressive series of challenging hands-on practical sessions.
